It has been nearly a year and a half since we have had heavy restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 virus. This has changed everything at the Center. All our activities are controlled by public health mandates and government restrictions. Although the country is receiving vaccines, many restrictions are still in place.

As Americans are seeing COVID-19 cases lessen in the United States due to vaccinations, our sisters and brothers in Peru and other South American countries are experiencing a surge of the virus with no end in sight.
In Loving Memory of Teresa Ruth Salinas Altuna, Medical Director for the Center for Social Works
It is with heavy hearts that we must inform you that after a two-week battle with COVID-19, Teresa Salinas Altuna, medical director for the Center for Social Works in Chimbote, has passed away. Teresa was hospitalized in late June and succumbed to the disease on July 6.

The 100,000th baby born at the Maternidad de Maria arrived with fanfare and excitement on October 20, 2019, at 4:35 pm! “Baby 100K” was a healthy baby boy, weighing just over 7 pounds.
