The 55th annual Chimbote mission dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Duquesne Union Ballroom at Duquesne University. Please mark your calendars to save the date and continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Chimbote.
The Chimbote Foundation’s Mission
The Chimbote Foundation was created to provide a bridge of love, hope, faith and financial support to care for the poorest of the poor in Chimbote through the Center for Social Works – a maternity hospital, outpatient clinic, clinical laboratory, pharmacy and home for abandoned and neglected children – serving hundreds of thousands since the mid-1960s.
A Special Day of Giving
On May 5, the Chimbote Foundation participated in a special Day of Giving for non-profits affected by the coronavirus. To date, we have received $13,490 in gifts, and with a 100 percent match, the grand total is now at $26,980! The campaign is open until May 31, so you may still make a gift at https://www.givebigpittsburgh.com/organizations/chimbote-foundation.
After a discussion with Fr. DiNardo, the Vicar General, and Dolores Nypaver, the Director of the stewardship office, and Deacon Rick Tucek, it has been decided this year that the Peru mission trips are cancelled because of the coronavirus. This step was taken out of an abundance of caution for the missionaries and the people of Chimbote.
Thank you to all who had the willingness to travel to help the poorest of the poor.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the 2020 Chimbote Foundation Annual Golf Outing has been cancelled. However, you can still donate to this worthy cause.
