Bishop David A. Zubik led the Mass and Commissioning of the 2018 Chimbote Mission Teams.
On Monday, June 4, 2018, the Mass and Commissioning was held in the McDowell Auditorium at St. Paul Seminary. Guests were encouraged and invited to stay after the Mass for a Spaghetti Dinner, which was served in the Cardinals’ Great Hall across from the auditorium.
All missionaries cover their own travel and living expenses. However, a Free-Will offering is requested to provide for translators and financial assistance for the destitute poor during the home visits.
This annual event is a great way to learn more about our Diocesan mission in Chimbote, Peru, meet and share with both current and previous Chimbote missionaries, enjoy a great meal, and support the teams with your prayers, encouragement and financial support, if desired. The Mass and Commissioning event is always open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families and friends.
For 2018, two teams will be traveling separately to Chimbote in June and July to serve in our Diocesan mission supporting a maternity hospital, medical clinic, laboratory, pharmacy, children’s shelter and home visit program. Please keep the neediest of our brothers and sisters in Chimbote in your prayers.
